Calling an email means removing the message after it reaches the recipient, deleting an email once and for all, or redrafting and sending it. This allows the sender to make necessary adjustments to the message, especially in the case of business messages, which do not bear any errors.

This feature helps withdraw the message from the recipient’s inbox. to do that, certain conditions must be met. Firstly, the email must be sent through the Microsoft Exchange server. In addition, this process can only be done by a desktop application, because this future isn’t available through the Outlook web platform. Also, the sender and receiver should use a Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft 365 account.

First, use the list of options on the left end. Go to the “Send Items” or “Sent Mail” option.

Go to the message you want to retrieve and then double-click with the right mouse button opening the email in a new window with all available options.

Using the toolbar at the top, Make sure you are inside the “Message” tab. And then from the option “Actions” go to “Recall this Message”.

Then an interface with two options will appear. The first is to delete the current message and retrieve the email from the recipient. The second option is to delete the current message and replace it with another one. In this pilot example, we will select the first option.

The checked option at the bottom indicates that Outlook will send you an email to inform you whether the sent email has been restored or not. If you choose to delete the current version of the message (first option), you will be sent within seconds of an email informing you of the restoration result (successful/unsuccessful).

If you choose to delete the current message and replace it with another one, an interface will pop up in order to write a different message.

When you’re done, all you need to do is click on the “Send” option.
