In this lesson, we will learn how to replace words in Excel, whether they are phrases or words, or even phrases that start or contain a specific word.
If we have the following table containing a set of job titles, we want to replace any title that ends with the word “Analyst”.

First, we select the entire table.

Then from the toolbar and from the “Home” window and the “Editing” ribbon, we choose “Find & Select”, and from there we will choose the “Replace” option.

The following interface will appear.

how to use wildcard?
Then in the “Find What” box, we will write “* Analyst”, and this phrase means replacing any phrase that ends with the word “Analyst” regardless of the word that precedes it.

Note: If we want to replace any phrase that contains the word “Analyst” wherever this word is found, we will write in the previous box “* Analyst *”, which means replacing any phrase that contains the word Analyst in any part of it.
Now we will write the phrase that we want to replace within the “Replace With” box, and here, for example, we will replace it with the number “1”.

After that, we choose “Replace All” to perform the replacement process on each matching sample.

Then we notice the notification, which means that three replacements were made. This is because we have three statements in this table that end with the word “Analyst “.

We choose “Ok”. We notice that the replacements were made successfully.
